Portimão.
Stay a little longer.

Make the Portuguese Grand Prix a six-day Algarve break: arrive softly in Portimão, take one unhurried Alvor and Praia da Rocha day, then keep Friday through Sunday focused on the rolling Autódromo Internacional do Algarve. The 2027 session clocks remain unannounced, so use flexible morning, afternoon and evening blocks until Formula 1 and the circuit publish the final timetable.

Portimão city view

Choose your base

Praia da Rocha is the livelier, restaurant-and-seafront base, useful if you want the Vista dinner and an easy first evening. Alvor is calmer, with an old fishing-village feel, beach and estuary walks, but neither is a walk to the Autódromo. A rental car or booked driver is the sensible circuit plan from either. For a splurge, Bela Vista Hotel & Spa puts you at Praia da Rocha with Vista on site; confirm race-weekend room availability and never assume the hotel includes circuit transport. Tivoli Alvor is a useful alternative if you prefer a resort near Alvor's beach and village, again with separate circuit transport required.

Move around the city

The Autódromo is at Mexilhoeira Grande, away from the Portimão and Alvor waterfronts. Plan a hired car, a pre-arranged driver or a future official 2027 service only after it is announced. The circuit's current published guidance for another major event says visitors should use their own vehicle, allow time to park and walk 10 to 30 minutes to grandstands, and that no organized transport was provided. Treat that as an access-planning clue, not a Formula 1 promise. Confirm F1-specific routes, parking, gates and accessible facilities closer to race week.
