Chinese Grand Prix 2027

Formula 1 · Shanghai, China

Time to be confirmed · venue local time

Shanghai International Circuit

Guide source-checked Oct 9, 2026

Before you plan the trip

2027 tickets are not yet published. Watch Formula 1, the Shanghai race promoter and the eventual official channel; verify whether your preferred grandstand is day-specific or three-day, its entrance, identity requirements and any hospitality inclusions. A past Paddock Club or club product does not prove paddock access, transfers or 2027 availability.

How to reach the venue

Metro Line 11 to Shanghai Circuit Station is the last official race transport baseline. The 2027 event's shuttles, gates, parking permits, road closures and ride-hailing points are not published. Recheck all of them after ticket purchase and leave post-session return plans flexible.

Your trip, day by day.

Apr 14 - Apr 19 · 6 days at the destination

Recommended for this trip. International flight days are additional.

Six destination days: Wednesday recovery, Thursday's Yu Garden and Bund city day with an occasion dinner, all three circuit days, then Monday departure after a Sunday night in Shanghai.

When to arrive

Aim to land Wednesday, April 14. Long-haul flight days are additional and early hotel check-in is not guaranteed, so keep the first evening easy.

Arrive and reset in Shanghai

Wednesday, April 14 - arrival and recovery

After landing

Check in and make the first evening deliberately easy

Use Wednesday as a landing buffer rather than trying to compress sightseeing into a jet-lagged afternoon. A central Huangpu or Jing'an base makes the city day enjoyable, but neither is a quick circuit commute. If you arrive through Pudong, arrange your airport transfer with the hotel and keep dinner near your bed.

Old Shanghai, a skyline walk and a serious dinner

Thursday, April 15 - a full city day before the circuit

Morning

Wander Yu Garden's pavilions and bridges

Start at Yu Garden on Fuyou Road, a classical garden of pavilions, waterside lodges, covered walkways and bridges. The tourism authority currently lists it as open daily, but reconfirm the April 2027 admission arrangement and any timed-entry rules before going.

Lunch

Eat xiaolongbao at Nanxiang Steamed Bun Restaurant

Stay in the Yu Garden area for a relaxed basket of Nanxiang xiaolongbao at the restaurant on Yuyuan Road. The official city guide identifies it as a historic local name; expect a popular stop, not a timed reservation. Reconfirm service and access close to travel.

Reserved dinner

Make Taian Table the occasion meal

Book Taian Table in Changning for the city's big pre-race dinner. Its own restaurant FAQ describes a seasonal 10- or 12-course tasting menu and Tuesday-Saturday dinner service; it is a different district from the Bund, so build in a car ride and confirm menu, dietary needs, reservation and April 2027 service directly.

First circuit day at Shanghai International Circuit

Friday, April 16 - practice program, times to be confirmed

Before the circuit program

Use Metro Line 11 and leave a generous buffer

The most recently published official race transport guide directs spectators to Shanghai Circuit Station on Metro Line 11, next to the track. The 2027 transport plan is not published, so reconfirm stations, operating arrangements, gate instructions and any shuttle before choosing a departure time.

Follow the announced Friday practice sessions

Formula 1 has confirmed the April 16 race-weekend date and lists two Friday practices, but all 2027 session clocks remain TBC. Use the final official program to decide when to arrive, then enjoy the fan areas and viewing zone your ticket permits between sessions.

After the circuit program

Return with the crowd and keep dinner unbooked

Follow the final event instructions back to Line 11 or your authorised parking route. The prior race guide used traffic restrictions and permit-controlled circuit parking, which cannot be assumed for 2027. Keep the evening flexible rather than attaching a prepaid dinner to a fixed exit time.

Practice and qualifying

Saturday, April 17 - circuit day, times to be confirmed

Before entry

Match the entrance to your ticket and grandstand

Check the final ticket terms, approved entrance and identity requirements before leaving the hotel. The previous official guide assigned entrances by grandstand and required the original identity document used to buy the ticket; 2027 procedures must be reconfirmed when tickets go on sale.

Stay for final practice and qualifying

Formula 1 lists practice and qualifying on April 17, but the clock times are TBC. Plan this as a full circuit day, use breaks for the facilities available in your ticketed area, and watch the official program rather than relying on a provisional schedule.

Optional premium upgrade

Compare official hospitality only when the 2027 offers appear

The 2026 event offered named club and Paddock Club products, evidence that official premium viewing can be a worthwhile option. It does not establish 2027 pricing, inclusions, paddock access or transport. Compare the published 2027 package details against your preferred grandstand before spending up.

Chinese Grand Prix Sunday

Sunday, April 18 - race day, start time to be confirmed

Before the circuit program

Travel early, after checking the final race-day guidance

Metro Line 11 to Shanghai Circuit Station is the sensible default from the last official guide, but gate, queue and traffic arrangements can change. Bring the identification and ticket documents required by the published 2027 policy, then allow a generous arrival buffer.

Chinese Grand Prix

The Grand Prix is confirmed for April 18 at Shanghai International Circuit. Formula 1 has not announced the local start clock, so settle into your selected viewing zone and follow the final event schedule. Keep Sunday night in Shanghai rather than planning an airport dash through post-race traffic.

Where to stay

A city view of Shanghai
Shanghai · archival city photograph

For the six-day city-and-race balance, stay in Huangpu, the Bund or Jing'an: you can walk the central sights and dine well, but Line 11 makes circuit days a real cross-city journey, not a quick hop. A Jiading or Anting base reduces the race-morning approach and gives easier access to the automobile district, but trades away the central riverfront evenings. As a premium city option, Mandarin Oriental Pudong sits in Lujiazui near the Oriental Pearl Tower; confirm room availability, transfer arrangements and the race-weekend journey rather than assuming any hotel includes circuit transport.

Getting around

For the last official Chinese Grand Prix, the city recommended Metro Line 11 to Shanghai Circuit Station beside the track. Use that as the planning baseline only: 2027's shuttle, parking, road-control and gate plan has not been published. Choose a hotel after mapping its walk to the appropriate Metro connection, use a permitted parking route only if the event publishes one, and leave return evenings loose.

Before you head to the venue

This guide preserves the confirmed April 16-18 circuit dates, not provisional clock times. Formula 1's observed 2027 page marks all sessions TBC. Buy only through the future official sales channel, check whether your ticket covers the desired days and grandstand, and read the final identity, entry and prohibited-items policy. Official hospitality may be worthwhile for comfort or viewing, but a past package does not prove 2027 inclusions, paddock access or transfers.

  • 2027 session clocks and event transport are not confirmed; recheck Formula 1 and the official Shanghai race guidance.
  • Book a ticket that covers all intended circuit days and validate your grandstand entrance and identity requirements.
  • Keep Sunday night in Shanghai and make departure Monday, April 19.
  • Reserve Taian Table directly and reconfirm Yu Garden and restaurant service before travel.
  • Metro Line 11 is the prior official baseline, not a guarantee of 2027 shuttles, gates or road arrangements.
